MISSOULA — Three records fell in the eighth running of the Missoula Marathon and half marathon on a hot Sunday morning.
Matthew “Grizzly” Adams from Seward, Alaska, won the men’s marathon in a record time of 2 hours, 20 minutes, 27 seconds. Camille Herron of Warr Acres, Oklahoma, won the women’s race in 2:58:45.
Several Butte runners completed the marathon, with Michele Bazzenella placing 17th among women at 3:24:45. Other Butte women finishers were Tori Bushman (4:14:04), Shelly Hodges (4:16:33), Christie Blaskovich (4:11.42) and Sara Simmons (5:24.14).
Butte’s Curtis Moen finished 65th among men at 3:20:59. Long-time Butte coach Jim Konen finished in 4:43:46.
In the half marathon, Heather Lieberg of Helena won the women’s race with a record time of 1:15:55. Carlos Trujillo of Middleton, Idaho, won the men’s race in a record 1:06:29.
The half marathon saw many Butte runners compete.
On the women’s side, Sky Miner (1:34:37), Amber Wood-Jensen (140:14) and Teran McGree (1:44:14) all beat the 1:45 mark.
On the men’s side, Butte runners Ray Matson (1:24:40), Don Foley (1:29:45), Joe Stimatz (1:38:25), Robert Mayer (1:41:30) and Michael Cook (1:43:50) finished faster than 1:45.
