BILLINGS — Butte native Quinn Peoples had her best game in a month Saturday.
The former Butte Central Maroon shook off a recent mini-slump to score 13 points to help the MSU-Billings Yellowjackets beat the University of Alaska Fairbanks 73-67 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game at Alterowitz Gymnasium.
The win moved MSU-B to 11-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
Peoples, a sophomore, shot 5 of 8 from the field and sank two 3-pointers while coming off the bench.
Janiel Olson scored a team-leading 16 points in the victory.
“Olson had a complete game, shooting the ball well from the free throw line and grabbing 14 rebounds,” MSU-B coach Kevin Woodin said. “It was also nice to see Peoples come off the bench to hit some big shots for us.”
The Yellowjackets hit the road this week to take on Simon Frazier University (B.C.) in Burnaby, British Columbia. They also play at Western Washington University.
