Quinn Peoples off to fast start

Butte native Quinn Peoples put up a pair of double-figure games as the MSU-Billings women’s basketball team opened the season with a 1-1 record.

The Yellowjackets fell 65-63 at Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D., Saturday before bouncing back with at 79-64 win over Chadron State in Chadron, Neb., on Sunday.

At Black Hills, Peoples sank three 3-pointers and 15 points. Sunday, Peoples scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She was one of five Yellowjackets in double digits scoring. Bobby Knudsen led the way with 30 points.

The Yellowjackets, who beat the University of Great Falls in a home exhibition game Nov. 2, are back in action this weekend at the Dixie State tournament in St. George, Utah.

Peoples, a 2011 Butte Central graduate, helped lead the Maroons to the 2010-11 Class A State title.
