Queer, Sweet, McEwen win state wrestling titles

GREAT FALLS — Three Butte wrestlers won titles at the State AAU Folkstyle tournament over the weekend.

Jeff Queer also tried out and qualified for the Montana National Dual team that will compete in Iowa March 26-27.

Queer, who placed second at heavyweight for Butte High at last month’s state tournament, won the Cadet 285-pound division this weekend. Ethan Sweet took the top spot at Midge 112, while Maverick McEwen won the Midget 70 division.

In all, 27 members of the Butte Wrestling Club competed at the tournament that drew more than 1,100 wrestlers.
