Prigge wins first flight at Women’s State Amateur

GREAT FALLS — Butte’s Ella Prigge went wire to wire to win the first flight at the Montana State Women’s Amateur Championship at Meadow Lark Country Club. (Leaderboard)

The recent Butte High graduate finished strong with a 77 on Saturday for an 11-shot lead. She also shot a 77 on Thursday before hitting an 85 on Friday for a 239 total.

Sami Benson of Billings placed second at 250. The soon-to-be Montana Tech Oredigger shot a final-round 82.

Mariah Cleveland of Billings placed third at 254, and Butte’s Kodie Hoagland took fourth at 256.

Kylie Esh of Missoula hit a final-round 70 to win her first State Am title. Her total of 214 was four better than Bozeman’s Kameryn Basye in the championship flight. Marcella Mercer of Kalispell took third at 244.

Bozeman’s Susan Haskins ran away with the title of the Mid Am, while Jo Smith of Missoula won the Senior Am.
