BOZEMAN — Jack Prigge had himself a day Tuesday.

The soon-to-be Butte High junior fired a 3-under-par 69 at the Cottonwood Hills Golf Course. The surge moved Prigge from a fifth-place tie to second place in the 16-18 division of the two-day Montana State Junior Championships. (Results)

Prigge shot a first-round 74, and his 143 two-day total tied him with first-day leader Justus Verge of Bozeman for second. Prigge won a scorecard playoff for sole possession of second.

Carson Hackmann of Laurel won medalist honors with a total of 140. He shot a final-round 67.

Jordan Verge of Bozeman shot 72 each day and placed fourth at 144.

The huge final round qualifies Prigge for the Boys’ Junior America’s Cup, which starts July 27 in Sheridan, Wyoming.  He also qualifies for the Montana-Alberta Junior Ryder Cup, which is Aug. 9-10 in Shelby.

Butte’s Chase Choquette and Kodi Hoagland also had a nice day.

Hamilton’s Brady Powell won with a 138. He shot 67-71 to beat Polson’s Maxwell Milton by two shots.

Kade McDonough of Missoula won the 14-15 boys’ group with a 143.

Hoagland, an incoming senior at Butte High, shook off Monday’s 91 by firing a final-round 78. That moved her up the leaderboard to ninth place in the girls’ 16-18 division.

Macee Greenwood of Hamilton followed a 72 with a 73 to walk away with medalist honors at 145.

Kira Connell of Bozeman won the girls’ 13-and-under division. She tied Big Sky’s Cate Leydig at 181 and won the playoff.
