Prigge opens with 80 at Junior America’s Cup

SHERIDAN, Wyo. — Butte’s Jack Prigge shot a 9-over-par 80 to open the Boys Junior America’s Cup Tuesday at The Powder Horn. (Leaderboard)

The soon-to-be Butte High junior carded a 39 on the front nine before coming home with a 41. That puts Prigge in a tie for 55th place after the first day of the three-day tournament.

Luciano Conlan of Southern California fired a 6-under 65 to take the lead. Rylan Johnson of Arizona and Lincoln Melcher of Southern California are tied for second at 67. Eric Lee of Southern California and Jackson Parrish of Nevada are tied for fourth at 68.

Prigge qualified for the prestigious event with a come-for-behind performance at the Montana State Junior Championships last month in Bozeman.
