Prigge finishes sixth at Great Falls Invitational

GREAT FALLS — Butte High golfer Jack Prigge started his senior season with a sixth-place showing at the Great Falls Invitational.

The two-day tournament wrapped up Tuesday at Eagles Falls Golf Club.

Prigge, who won the Western AA Divisional and placed third at the Class AA State meet last fall, followed Monday’s 1-under 71 at Meadow Lark Country Club with a 4-over 75 Tuesday at Eagle Falls.

His 146 total was one shot out of the top five in the tournament that included all 16 Class AA schools.

Gavin Klein of Gallatin won medalist honors. He followed a 66 with a 69 for a 135. Tyler Avery of Kalispell Glacier took second at 137, shooting 69 and 68.

Helena Capital golfer Joe McGreevey, a former Southwest Montana Junior Golf Tour player, took third at 141. He followed a 70 with a 71. Tye Boone of Billings Skyview was fourth at 145, followed by Colin McCarthy of Missoula Sentinel at 145.

Butte High sophomore Brenner Booth followed a 78 with an 80 for a 158.

Glacier won the team title at 608, beating Capital by two shots. Skyview took third at 628.

Butte High placed fifth at 638. The Bulldogs improved four shots Tuesday for a 317. Freshman Chase Choquette improved nine shots for an 80 to tie with junior teammate Zach Sawyer, who shot 87 and 82. Senior Jacob Sawyer shot an 85 each day for a 170.

On the girls’ side, Billings West won with a 665 two-day total. Billings Senior took second at 685, and Gallatin placed third at 701. The Bulldogs placed 10th at 879.

Bella Johnson of West claimed medalist honors with a 151. She followed a 75 with a 76. Chloe Tanner of Glacier took third at 159, and Senior’s Kenzie Walsh and Gallatin’s Addiley Lloyd tied for third at 162.

Butte High improved 25 strokes for a 427 on the second day. Dylann Bartoletti led the way, shaving off eight shots for a 97 and a 202. Taylor Sullivan improved three shots for a 105 and a 213 total. Kendyllen Lean and Chelsi Lyons both shot 232, and eighth grader Kate DeShaw finished at 258.

The Bulldogs are back in action next Monday and Tuesday when they compete in Missoula.
