Day one of the Butte High Invitational Golf Tournament at Fairmont Hot Springs saw Butte High’s Jack Prigge once again on top of the leader board.

Prigge shot a one under 71 on the first day for a three stroke lead over Glacier’s Tyler Avery. Avery opened with a 74.  Tyler Williams of Flathead is currently third with a 75, followed by Avery’s teammate, Trey Engellant, in fourth with a 77.  Missoula Sentinel’s Colin McCarthy and Belgrade’s Jacob Maroney are tied for 5th at 78.  Butte High sophomore, Brenner Booth, sits in sixth place after an opening round at 80. Prigge took a five stroke lead into the second day of last week’s Belgrade Invitational and finished the tournament with a one stroke victory.  The Butte High Senior has been focused on improving on last year’s third place finish at State.

Choquette taps in for Eagle

One of the highlights of the first day was Chase Choquette tapping in for an Eagle on the par five, 16th hole.  Choquette finished the day tied with his teammate, Gavin Roesti, at 85. Jacob Sawyer followed with an 88.

The Bulldogs’ team score at the end of day one is 321. They sit just two strokes behind first day leader Glacier (319), and four strokes ahead of Flathead (325).

The Butte Central Maroons were led by Sam Henderson with an opening round 90, Will McGree carded at 95, Kelton Berger (121) and Randy Larson (130).

 

GIRLS

 Chloe Tanner of Glacier High sits in the club house with the girls’ first day lead.  She’s up three strokes over Missoula Hellgate’s Anna Stensrud (84).  Sitting in third place is Leila Mamangun of Belgrade with a 93. Butte Bulldog Dylan Bartolleti  comes in next with a 94; one stroke up on Belgrade’s Nataly Durham at 95.

The Belgrade Panthers lead the team competition with a 392, Missoula Hellgate Knights are in second at 396, Glacier’s Wolf Pack follows with a 399, the Butte Bulldogs are in fourth with 415. The Dillon Beavers are currently holding down fifth place with a 423.

Gussey Lean winds up for a long drive on 18

Bulldog, Gussey Lean, finished the opening round with a 105. Taylor Sullivan and teammate Chelsi Lyons both finished at 108, and Kate DeShaw carded a 115.

The teams will tee it up again tomorrow morning at 10am on the Fairmont course. Team Scores
