Brady Powell of Corvallis and Katie Lewis of Frenchtown took home medalist honors from the season-opening Butte Central Invitational Monday at the Highland View Golf Course.
Powell fired a 2-over-par 72 to take the title on the boys side. Danyk Jacobsen of Livingston shot a 76 for second place, and Tate Jessop of Corvallis placed third at 77. (Results)
With a 318, Corvallis won the boys’ title, beating second-place Livignston by 17 shots. Dillon was third at 337, followed by East Helena at 349, Butte High’s junior varsity at 350 and Frenchtown at 381.
Butte Central only had three boys in the tournament, so the Maroons did not have a team score.




Freshman Will McGree led the Maroons with an 86, which was good for 13th place. Teammate Sam Henderson, a sophomore, shot a 92, and senior Randy Larson carded a 103.
Gavin Roesti placed 10th with an 83 to lead Butte High’s JV. Also for the Bulldogs, Rider Montgomery hit an 87, Kade Corcoran shot an 89, Wyatt Blakeley carded a 91 and Torsten Anderson shot a 97.
Lewis ran away from the field, shooting a 74 for a 17-shot victory. Tayler Hadley of East Helena was second at 91, while Livingston’s Camille Poncin took third at 94.
Frenchtown won the team title at 395. Livingston was second at 423, and Dillon placed third at 440. Butte Central and Butte High did not have any girls compete in the event.
