Players from Carroll, Northern win volleyball awards

Players from Carroll College and MSU-Northern were named the Frontier Conference Volleyball Players of the Week, the league announced today.

Attacker of the Week: Holly Morehouse, Carroll College, 6-foot sophomore right side hitter from Anchorage, Alaska. Carroll went 3-1 for the week. At the Five Points Bank Invitational, Carroll beat No. 19 Hastings College 3-0, (RV) Concordia (Neb.) 3-0 and Peru State 3-0. The Saints lost to No. 4 Midland College 1-3. Morehouse averaged 3.77 kills with a .389 attack percentage. Also nominated and listed in alphabetical order: Devon Bogart of the University of Great Falls, Kennadie Clute of Lewis-Clark State, Jordan Danz of Montana Tech, Erin Jensen of MSU-Northern and Kyla Paulsen of Montana Western.

Defender of the Week: Rebecca Sweeney, Carroll College, 5-foot-10 senior defensive specialist from Boise, Idaho. At the Five Points Bank Invitational, Carroll beat No. 19 Hastings College 3-0, (RV) Concordia (Neb.) 3-0 and Peru State 3-0. The Saints lost to No. 4 Midland College 1-3. Sweeney averaged averaged 6.08 digs per set. Also nominated and listed in alphabetical order: Kennedy Chadwick of the University of Great Falls, Dylan Fowler of Montana Western and Jacy Vining of MSU-Northern.

Setter of the Week: Emily Russell, MSU-Northern, 5-foot-8 junior setter from Kalispell. The Skylights were 3-1 for the weekend. Northern beat Waldorf (Iowa) 3-0, Mount Marty 3-0 and Valley City State 3-1, and lost to (RV) Jamestown (N.D.) 1-3. Russell averaged 10.43 assists and 2.64 digs. Also nominated, listed in alphabetical order: Bree Davis of the University of Great Falls, Jonni Dorr of Carroll College, Callie Hanson of Montana Western and Amber Hillestad of Lewis-Clark State College.
