PORTLAND, Ore. — The all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference baseball team was released Tuesday, and MSU-Billings senior pitcher Bryon Baker took home an honorable mention.
Baker, a Butte High graduate, was one of nine Yellowjackets to receive postseason honors.
Senior outfielders Casey Merritt and Zach Robinson were named first-team all-conference. Junior Ryan Myers, sophomore Jalen Garcia and freshman Caje Golden were named to the second team, while Cody Cooper, Tanner Watson and Max Hartgraves joined Baker with an honorable mention.
Baker received the honor despite having an injury cut short a promising start to the season. The former Butte Miner posted a 4-1 record on the regular season. He made 12 appearances, seven of them starts, while posting a 4.21 ERA. He struck out 39 batters in 47 innings. He walked 23.
Last Friday’s appearance was believed to be Baker’s career finale because he re-injured his surgically repaired shoulder. However, he said he might pitch at the GNAC Tournament, which starts Thursday in Portland.
