Peoples scores 31 (again) as Maroons cruise to win

STEVENSVILLE — Apparently, Dougie Peoples feels very much at home in the Bitterroot Valley.

For the second straight Saturday, the Butte Central sophomore went there and scored 31 points in a game, this time in a 70-32 win over Stevensville.

Peoples sank four 3-pointers and shot 7 for 7 from the free throw line on the night, that included sitting on the bench the final 9 minutes, 29 seconds of the game. Peoples scored 31 points in a 60-58 loss last week at Corvallis.

Against the Yellowjackets, Peoples caught fire in the third quarter, scoring 21 points as BC broke open a 36-16 game with a 30-9 run.

Kyle Holter joined Peoples in double figures, scoring eight of his 10 points in the first half.  Egan Lester poured in seven points, while Bryan Holland tossed in six as the Maroons improved to 1-3 in conference and 2-3 overall.

In all, 11 different BC players scored points as coach Brodie Kelly emptied his bench with the big lead. Joseph Sehulster scored four, Isaac Sholey and John Fisher each scored three, Rye Doherty and Bryson Sestrich scored two apiece, and Konnor Pochervina and Gage Guldseth both tossed in one.

Gus Turner’s 15 points paced the Yellowjackets (0-4, 0-6). Kallen Beller tossed in nine.

The Maroons are back in Thursday when they travel to Manhattan for a non-conference game against the Tigers.
