The Butte Central Maroons hosted their Cross Country invite Tuesday on the Fairmont golf course. Teams from Polson, Park, Frenchtown, East Helena, Stevensville, Anaconda, Powell, Drummond, Harrison, and Ennis joined the host Maroons for a run around the fairways.
Park and Powell were the only schools with full girls’ teams. Park ran to the team title with 19 points to Powell County’s 38.
The girls were led by Park High’s Sophie Sestrich, who ran to victory in 24:04.1. She was pushed to the finish line by two Polson Pirates: Isabel Seeley (24:33.9) and Adison Carlson (24:42.7). Meela Mitchell of Anaconda finished fourth in 24:45.1, with Elanor Reinhardt of Frenchtown capping the top five with a 26:10.1. Butte Central’s lone runner, Hallie Kellicut, finished in 36:05.0. On the Boys’ side, Park took advantage of five runners finishing in the top 7 spots to run away with the team title. They matched the girls’ score of 19 points. Polson finished second with 41 points, Stevensville third with 78 and Powell County fourth at 103. None of the other schools entered full teams.
Scott Parke of Drummond was first to cross the finish line in 18:10.7, twenty seconds faster than Park’s Charlie Serafin, and 38 seconds ahead of Park’s Finn Shretenthaler. Jim Bradshaw led the hosting Maroons, finishing 17th in 20:59.7. James Holmes crossed the finish line in 23:00.4, Patrick Stimatz finished in 25:49, and William McAnulty ran to a 30:35.07.
The Maroons will run again this Saturday at Frenchtown.
