Panthers power past Bulldogs in three

BELGRADE — Class A power Belgrade completed the season sweep of the Butte High Bulldogs with a 3-0 victory Tuesday night at the Belgrade Special Events Center.

Bailey Christensen smashed 19 kills and collected 17 digs to lead the Panthers 25-16, 25-20, 26-24 in the non-conference match. Belgrade also swept Butte High last month in Butte. Butte High, though, put up a much better fight the second time around.

Kira Mortensen’s 11 kills paced the Bulldog attack. She registered four stuff blocks.

Butte High also get seven kills and three blocks from Emma Field and three blocks from MaKenna Carpenter.

Maddie Worley and Grace McGrath ran the Bulldog offense, while Devin Amtmann’s 14 digs led Butte’s back row. Amtmann also served a pair of aces. Brittney Tierney collected 10 digs.

The Bulldogs fell to 9-15 overall, while the Panthers improved to 19-2.

The match is the only action for the Bulldogs this week. Butte High is back at home next Tuesday to celebrate Senior Night against Bozeman.
