Paffhausen brings home All-State honor

Butte Central senior center fielder Shelby Paffhausen earned a spot on the Class A All-State team.

She joined teammate Teresa Piazzola on the team. Paffhausen’s name was not on a list of players released to the media, so her All-State selection wasn’t mentioned in a story Wednesday morning. Paffhausen, though, was indeed selected to the team, according to BC coach Kelci Thatcher.

The honor follows a season in which Paffhausen batted .328 on the regular season. She hit two doubles, two triples and two home runs while driving in 11 runs from the No. 2 hole in the BC lineup.

Paffhausen was also one of the top defensive players in the state. She highlighted the Southwestern A Divisional tournament with a game-saving catch with two-outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning against Hamilton.

Then Paffhausen followed the spectacular catch with the game-winning double that clinched the No. 2 seed at the Class A State tournament for the Maroons.
