Outlaws topple Miners

LIVINGSTON — The Butte Miners are going to have to do it the hard way.

Gallatin Valley beat Butte’s “Mine Boys” 6-1 Friday at Livingston Legion Field, sending the Miners to the loser’s bracket of the Southern A District tournament. (Boxscore)

The Miners will put their season on the line at 11:30 a.m. against the Helena Reps. The winner will play again at 5 p.m. against Dillon or Bozeman. (Boxscore)

The Outlaws advance to the undefeated semifinal at 2 p.m. against top-seeded Belgrade. The Bandits beat Dillon 5-1 earlier Friday.

Boy Hays struck out eight batters over seven innings to get the win for GVO. He scattered five hits. Hayes also joined Brody Ayers with a two-hit game.

Trevor Doud singled and drove in two runs. Isaac Richardson also singled in the victory.

Rye Doherty doubled and scored the Miners’ lone run. Kian O’Neill, Eric Hart, Aidan Lee and Sean Ossello singled for Butte.
