Butte High School 56 Missoula Hellgate 67
The Lady Bulldogs played host to Hellgate tonight as they look to finish the season strong. Both teams came out and traded buckets in the first half as neither team led by more than 5 points as the lead change would go back and forth.
Dylann Bartoletti and Laura Rosenleaf got things going for the Bulldogs, followed by Emmarie Richards who made a bank call after hours and nailed a 3.
Brityn Stewart would knock down some big 3-point buckets as time wound down in the first period, Laura Rosenleaf and Brooke Groesbeck rebounded well and Laura played great clean up down low and scored two more for the dogs.
8th grader Cadence Graham plays like a seasoned vet and doesn’t let the moment get too big as she knocked down all her attempts at the line in the first half and handled the ball well.
Hellgate played well, by shooting and rebounding as well and knocking some 3 pointers down to eventually gain a 5-point advantage and take a 3-point lead to the half. Brityn Stewart led the way in the first half for the Lady dogs with 8 points on a solid shooting half.
During the second half the Knights started to pull away, the Bulldogs turned the ball over and gave up too many second chance opportunities to the Knights to keep pace.
Although Senior Laura Rosenleaf did everything in her power to try and help secure a much-needed win, Laura was relentless on the boards, and she led the Bulldogs in scoring tonight with 20 points.
Brityn Stewart continued her solid play in the second half as well, but it just wasn’t enough in the end as the Lady Bulldogs lose this one 67-56.
Laura Rosenleaf led the way for Butte High with 20 points, Brityn Stewart had 15, Cadence Graham had 8, Emmarie Richards and Dylann Bartoletti each had 5, and Brooke Groesbeck had 3.
Butte High will return to action against Sentinel next Friday at home.
