BILLINGS — Montana Tech is moving on in the Frontier Conference men’s basketball tournament.
Taylor England scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Orediggers to a 70-59 upset win over Rocky Mountain College Wednesday night at the Fortin Center. (Stats)
The win, Tech’s first in the postseason since 1999, sends the Orediggers to Helena Saturday for a semifinal showdown with top-seeded Carroll College (24-6) at 7 p.m. at the P.E. Center.
England was one of three Orediggers to reach double figures in a game Tech led 36-20 at halftime. Nate Ward scored 14 points, wile Blake Dittman tossed in 13 points.
Troy Owens Jr. and Dylan Pannabecker each scored nine points for Tech, which improved to 17-14. Pannabecker grabbed seven boards.
Tech also got four points form Carson Dummer, three from Nick Fitts and two from Derrius Collins.
Clayton Ladine and Craig Wilmore each scored 13 points for Rocky, which fell to 19-11. Jared Samuelson contributed with 12 points and eight rebounds. Wilmore grabbed 11 rebounds
In other Frontier quarterfinal games, MSU-Northern beat the University of Providence 1-1-93, while Lewis-Clark State College topped Montana Western 94-74.
Northern will head to Lewis-Clark State for the semifinals.
