Orediggers sign Joliet’s Brock Beede

Things are getting pretty big up at Montana Tech.

Oredigger football coach Chuck Morrell announced another signing on Tuesday, and like the previous four commitments, this one is sizable.

Brock Beede of Joliet signed an NAIA Letter of Intent to play football for the Orediggers, the school announced. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Beede will play linebacker at Montana Tech.

He is the fifth singing of the offseason, joining  Butte High’s Tyler Earles, Helena Capital’s Tyler Sanders, Stevensville’s Zach Gavlack and Billings Skyview linemen Trevor Hopf and Jalen Whitley.

“Brock has a combination of length and speed that will enable him to excel at outside linebacker in our 3-4 scheme,” Morrell said.

Bedde played on both sides of the ball for Class B Joliet. As a junior, he was selected all-conference as a linebacker. He took home all-conference and All-State honors at linebacker and tight end in 2013.

“We have had a great opportunity to watch and work with Brock over the past year,” Morrell said. “Seeing him at our summer camp helped solidify that fact and with some fine tuning he will benefit our defense tremendously here at Tech.”

Beede is a three-sport athlete at Joliet. He earned all-conference honors in basketball last season. He won the triple jump at the divisional meet before placing seventh at state.

Beede is planning on pursuing a degree in construction business management at Montana Tech. He will join the team for preseason drills in August.
