Orediggers open trip with five set victory

La MIRADA, Calif. — Montana Tech opened its three-day, four-match tour of the Golden State with a thrilling five-set victory over Biola.

Tech won the non-conference volleyball match 20-25, 25-12, 19-25, 25-15, 15-8 to improve to 12-7 on the season. (Stats)

Jordan Danz and Nicole Peacock each tallied 12 kills to lead the Orediggers, who edged Biola in kills 55-51. Bailie Cortner added 10 kills in the win, while Katie Wiley killed nine and Gena McMillan killed seven.

Makenzie Bauck’s 46 sets to run the Oredigger offense, while Sabrina Hopcroft registered 16 digs to lead the Oredigger defense. Peacock joined her in double figures in that category with 10.

Brooke Watt’s 12 kills paced Biola in the loss.

Montana Tech will play Hope International in Fullerton Friday. On Saturday, Tech will play Vanguard University in Costa Mesa before traveling to San Dimas to battle Life Pacific College.
