Orediggers open Frontier season

Montana Tech’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will be in Lewiston, Idaho, Saturday to open the Frontier Conference season against Lewis-Clark State College.

The women’s game starts at 6:30 p.m. (Mountain Time). The men tip off at 8:30.

The Orediggers (5-4) take a three-game winning streak into the women’s game.

L-C State is having a rare down year with at 3-11.

Mandy Machinal averages a team-leading 15.9 points per game. Kelsey DeWit adds 13.9 points and 7.4 rebounds to the lineup. Laini Kalumbi, Dannii Devenny and Brooke Pokorny will also likely start for Tech, which will be without head coach Kerie DePell.

DePell gave birth to her third child last week, so assistant coach Lindsie Wilson will call the shot. She’ll be assisted by former Oredigger Brianne McClafferty.

On the men’s side, the Orediggers face a tough task against the 13-0 Warriors, who are ranked No. 11 in the NAIA.

Adam Greger averages 19.4 points and 6.5 rebounds to lead the Orediggers, who went 8-4 in non-conference play.

Tanner Neumann, Dan Simon, Brandon Rydberg and Bryan Bock round out the starting lineup for the Orediggers, who haven’t won in Lewiston since February 2006.

Both games will be broadcast live on KBOW (550 AM). Click here to listen online.
