WHITEFISH — The Frontier Conference unveiled its Players of the Week honors today, and Montana Tech players Ryan Lowry and Tavia Rooney got the call.
Lowry was named the football Special Teams Player of the Week, while Rooney took home the women’s basketball Player of the Week.
The honor comes for Lowry, a 6-foot redshirt freshman kicker from Pasco, Washington, after the Orediggers closed the season with a 41-0 home win over MSU-Northern.
He made all four extra-point attempts, while drilling a pair of field goals. Lowry hit a 34-yard field goal before bouncing the ball off the crossbar and through for a 48-yard field goal.
Rooney, a 5-11 sophomore forward from Townsend, helped the Orediggers to a 1-1 record over the weekend at the Three Rivers Physical Therapy Classic in Lewistown last weekend.
Rooney had double-doubles in both games over the weekend. She averaged 14.7 points, 14.7 rebounds, four assists, and 1.7 blocks. Rooney has had four straight games with a double-double this year. Rooney shot 18 of 41 from the field, 2 of 3 from three point ranges, and 6 of 9 from the free throw line.
