Orediggers jump to No. 8

Montana Tech’s football team moved up five spots to No. 8 in the latest NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, which was released Monday afternoon.

This is the first time the Orediggers have been in the top 10 since they were ranked No. 7 in September of 2006.

The Orediggers (5-1) were off last week. They take their five-game winning streak to La Grande, Ore., to take on Eastern Oregon on Saturday. The Mountaineers handed Tech its only loss of the season Sept. 1 in Butte.

Carroll College, which Tech beat 37-20 Sept. 8 in Butte, is ranked No. 7, up one spot after a 21-14 win over Montana Western.

Southern Oregon is the only other ranked Frontier Conference team. The Raiders appeared in the top 25 for the first time this season at No. 23.
