WHITEFISH — Montana Tech’s Jed Fike and Derrick Holt were named Frontier Conference Players of the Week, the league announced this afternoon.
Fike received the Offensive Player of the Week honor, while Holt was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Sean Rodgers of Southern Oregon took home the Defensive Player of the Week award.
Fike is a 5-foot-11, 200-pound sophomore running back from Harrison. In No. 11 Tech’s record-breaking 93-19 win over MSU-Northern, the former Whitehall Trojan rushed for 247 yards and four touchdowns on just 12 carries.
Fike, who never stepped on the field in the second half, also caught one pass for 34 yards.
Bennett Gibson of Montana Western, Major Ali of Carroll College, Brenden Kelly of Eastern Oregon and Tanner Trosin of Southern Oregon were also nominated for the honor.
Holt is 5-9, 205-pound senior kicker from Renton, Washington. In Saturday’s win, Holt was 9 for 9 in points after touchdown. He also booted a 33-yard field goal.
Nathan Harden of Eastern Oregon and George Sherwood of Montana Western were also nominated.
Rogers is a 6-5, 230-pound junior defensive end from Portland, Oregon. In No. 7 Southern Oregon’s 36-7 conference home win over College of Idaho, Rogers recorded nine solo tackles, one assisted tackle, four tackles for loss (-25), one forced fumble and four quarterback sacks.
The four quarterback sacks were the most by a Raider in the last decade.
Brock Beede of Montana Tech, Jason Ferris of Montana Western, Michal Arenas of Eastern Oregon, and Alec Basterrechea of Carroll College were also nominated.
