Orediggers fall short in battle with No. 2 Saints

HELENA — Jovan Sljivancanin hit both ends of a one and one with nine seconds left as Carroll College hold on for n 80-78 Frontier Conference win over Montana Tech Thursday night at the P.E. Center. (Stats)

The win lifts the Saints to 16-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Orediggers, who were just outside of the Top 25 in the latest NAIA poll, fall to 13-5 and 2-1.

Sljivancanin scored 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out five assists to lead Carroll, which led 44-37 at halftime. Shamrock Campbell added 16 points and four assists.

The Saints also got 13 points from Ifeanyi Okeke and 10 from Garrett Long.

Sindou Diallo scored 18 points and dished four assists to lead the Orediggers. Caleb Bellach, Taylor England and Drew Huse each scored nine points. Derrius Collins and Keeley Bake tossed in eight apiece.

England pulled down seven rebounds, while Bellach added six boards and four assists.

Tech also got six points from Cody Baumstarck, four from Bridger Larson and two from Hayden Diekhans.

The Orediggers are back on the road Saturday to take on the University of Providence in Great Falls. Carroll will play host to Rocky Mountain College.
