BUTTE, Mont. – The Montana Tech women’s basketball fell behind early and couldn’t keep up with the University of Providence falling 74-61.
The Orediggers (6-13, 2-7) lose their fourth straight and the Argos (13-9, 3-6) have evened the season matchup with one win each.
The Argos opened the game with a 12-0 run and that was the difference in the game. Maddy Dixon had eight points in the opening minutes and finished with 12 for the quarter. Dixon had 20 points in the game going 7 for 9 from the field.
Providence finished the first quarter with a 24-11 lead going 10 for 17 from the field in the opening frame.
The Orediggers missed their first four shots and had three turnovers to start the game. They finished the quarter going 3 for 14.
Tech wiped the dust away of the first quarter and picked up a couple before halftime trailing 40-29 at the break. Tech shot 7 for 16 from the field in the second quarter and 3 for 4 from beyond the arc.
The teams kept an even pace the remainder of the game.
Tech shot 35.7% from the field in the game and hit 6 of 18 from long. The Orediggers shot 15 for 25 from the free throw line.
The Argos shot 407% from the field in the game and hit 10 of their 25 three-point attempts.
Aubrie Rademacher had 13 points to lead the Orediggers.
Tavia Rooney finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Dani Urick had 10 points and four rebounds.
Ally Cleverly had 11 points off the bench shooting 3 for 7 from beyond the arc.
Reed Hazard led the Argos with 23 points going 7 for 10 from three-point range. Hazard had four rebounds.
Brookly Harn had 10 points and four rebounds.
The Orediggers hit the road this weekend when they travel north to Havre to face MSU-Northern.
