Orediggers Down Evergreen in their Season Opener

BUTTE, Mont. – The Montana Tech Oredigger volleyball team started the season off with a sweep of Evergreen State 25-17, 25-18, 25-11.

The Orediggers picked up their first win of the Big Sky Volleyball Challenge hosted in the HPER Complex this year.

The Orediggers came out swinging finishing the first set with 14 kills and a .355 hitting percentage and followed up with 15 kills in the second.  Tech finished off the match hitting .516 in the third set and 18 kills.

Evergreen had 17 kills hitting for .056.

Maureen Jessop had 15 kills and just one hitting error in the match. The senior outside hitter had seven kills in the third set and hit for .538 in the match.

Olivia LaBeau finished with seven kills and a match-high six blocks. Olivia Muir and Kinnidi Willmore had six kills each.

Emmy Green had 14 digs and Jelena Jablov added 12.

McKenna Kaelber had 21 assists and Rhys Layton finished with 19.

Andee Nelson led Evergreen with five kills while hitting for .125.
