Oredigger Volleyball Wins 2 in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The No. 18 Montana Tech Oredigger volleyball team is in the Midwest at the Viterbo University Invitational. The Orediggers opened the tournament with a sweep of No. 23 Columbia College (Mo.) 25-22, 25-20, 25-23.

The Orediggers (18-6) extend their win streak to eight matches and fourth by sweep.

Tech hit .263 as a team and led Columbia 45-35 in kills. Columbia finished with eight total blocks to four by Tech.

Maureen Jessop led the Orediggers with 14 kills and finished with a .286 hitting percentage.

Kinnidi Willmore had 11 kills and just three errors with a .364 hitting percentage. Olivia Muir had 10 kills and a .226 hitting percentage. Muir also had two blocks.

Taylor Henley led the team in blocks with four and had six kills.

McKenna Kaelber had 35 assists.

Sude Gundogan had 11 kills to lead the Cougars. Gndogan led Columbia with a .273 hitting percentage.

No. 18 Montana Tech 3  St. Francis 1

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Montana Tech volleyball won their second match of the day at the Viterbo University Invitational defeating St. Francis (Ind.) 3-1.

The Orediggers won the first two sets confidently before dropping the third. The fourth set settled the match with a final of 25-12, 25-16, 21-25, 25-14.

Tech did not have a hitting error in the first set and finished hitting for .305 as a team. The Orediggers finished with just 10 errors and 46 kills. St. Francis had 42 kills and 35 hitting errors.

Olivia Muir led the attack with 13 kills and a .423 hitting percentage. Muir also had three blocks.

Maureen Jessop had 11 kills hitting for .205 and four blocks.

Alexis Umland was led the Tech blocking effort at the net with seven blocks. Umland did not have a hitting effort connecting with six kills on 10 swings hitting for .600 in the match.

Kinidi Willmore had seven kills.

Addison Shafer led St. Francis with 14 kills and Hannah Sweeny finished with 14.

The Orediggers (19-6) have won nine matches in a row. Tech volleyball wraps up the tournament tomorrow against Saint Francis (Ill.) tomorrow.
