Oredigger Volleyball to Host College of Idaho in NAIA Opening Round

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The Orediggers are once again dancing.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the qualifying teams and NAIA Championship Opening Round matchups for the 2023 NAIA Women’s Volleyball Championship presented by Marriott South Sioux City Riverfront and Riverside Technologies Inc. The 48-team event will begin with 24 NAIA Championship Opening Round matches at campus locations on Saturday, November 18.

The campus of Montana Tech is one of those locations. The Diggs will host The College of Idaho in the opening round this Saturday in the HPER at 5 PM.

Montana Tech (22-5) received an At-Large bid and will make their eighth appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. Their opponent will be the College of Idaho (19-13), who also received an At-Large bid out of the Cascade Conference. This will be the 14th trip for the Yotes to the National Tournament and their first since 2018.

This won’t be the Yotes first trip to Butte, as they were part of the Big Sky Challenge on August 17ththrough the 19th. Not only were they here, but the teams played on day two of the tournament with the Orediggers coming out on top 3-0.

The winner will advance to Sioux City, Iowa for the 44th Annual Volleyball National Championship, November 29-December 5.

Saturday’s Volleyball match will be part of a Playoff Saturday in Butte, with Montana Tech hosting Dickinson State University in Football at 1pm on Bob Green Field, followed by Volleyball hosting the College of Idaho at 5pm in the HPER.
