WHITEFISH — Frontier Conference volleyball coaches expect the 2018 season to end just like the 2017 campaign. With the Orediggers on top.
Once again, they expect it to be close.
The Frontier Conference released its coaches’ poll Thursday, and the defending conference and tournament champion Orediggers received seven of the first place votes.
Tech edged Rocky Mountain College by one point. The Battlin’ Bears received two first place votes and is picked to finished second. Carroll received the remaining first place vote and is picked to finish third.
In a repeat of last season’s poll, Lewis-Clark State and Providence finished tied for fourth with 18 points. MSU-Northern received nine points and Montana Western received eight.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. First place was worth six points, second place worth five points, third place worth four points, fourth place worth three points, fifth place worth two points and sixth place worth one point.
Earlier in the week, Frontier Conference football coaches picked Southern Oregon to once again win the league title.
The Raiders took six of the eight first-place votes. Rocky Mountain College was picked second, followed by the College of Idaho, Montana Tech, Carroll College, Eastern Oregon, Montana Western and MSU-Northern.
Rocky Mountain College was picked second, followed by Montana Tech and the College of Idaho in a third-place tie. Carroll College, Eastern Oregon, Montana Western and MSU-Northern round out the poll.
