Montana men’s basketball coach Patrick O’Herron today announced the signing of a big man from the Houston area. Flemming Okeke will attend Montana Tech in the fall adding to the post position for the Orediggers.
“Flemming is a versatile player, in having the skills to play inside or outside on both ends of the floor,” said Head Coach O’Herron I look forward to watching Flemming’s development on and off the court.”
Graduating the spring, Okeke played three years of varsity for Fort Bend Hightower High School in Missouri City, just southwest of Houston. The 6-foot-4 Okeke averaged 12 points and 8.9 rebounds a game for the Hurricanes. He also dished one assist and a block each game. Okeke was selected All-District as a senior.
In the classroom, Okeke is an honor roll student and was named Academic All-District.
“Flemming is a great fit for Montana Tech,” O’Herron said. “He places academics first and has the physical abilities to be a great player for us.”
Okeke, the son of Christian and Chinwe, is pursuing a degree in petroleum engineering.
“I chose Montana Tech because of its emphasis on education before sports,” Okeke said. “I believe with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, I can get a quality job in the engineering field. Tech is also a competitive school and Coach O’Herron can lead us to success.”
