LEWISTON, Idaho — Montana Tech’s men’s basketball team made a run at a rare victory at Lewis-State College Thursday night.
Troy Owens Jr. scored 31 points, and Taylor England added 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead an impressive Oredigger effort.
The Warriors (17-6, 6-5), though, escaped with an 80-75 victory at the Activity Center, where the home team is 14-2 this season. (Stats)
Derrick White scored 16 points to lead four Lewis-Clark State players in double figures as the Warriors overcame a 35-34 halftime deficit. Dana Abe scored 14 points, while Cordel Hanerson and Josiah Westbrook each scored 10.
Owens shot 10 for 23 from the field. That includes a 7-for-12 effort from 3-oint land. England connected on 9 of 16 shots.
Nate Ward scored 14 points and dished out five assists for the Orediggers, who got four points from Drew Huse and two apiece from Derrius Collins and William Mytty.
The game closed a stretch of four games in seven days for Montana Tech.
The Orediggers (15-9, 5-7) have a week off before hitting the road to play MSU-Northern and the University of Providence next Friday and Saturday.
