Montana Tech athletics will be out Trick or Treating this Sunday night, but they won’t be looking for candy. Instead, they will be going door to door looking for non-perishable food items for the Butte Emergency Food Bank.
Montana Tech SAAC presents “Trick or Treat for Cans”. This Sunday night, October 29th from 6:30- 7:30 pm Montana Tech Student-Athletes will be going door to door collecting items for the Butte Food Bank.
The Butte Emergency Food Bank distributes about 1,300,000 pounds of food- canned goods, boxed and bagged food, diapers, milk, bread and bakery items, meat, and more- to Butte residents, about 2,700 people each month.
When the food bank opened it distributed food once per week, they now distribute food five days per week. There is an incredible need in the Butte area, and even more so, during the winter. Anything you can give will be of great assistance. Plus! It will be a great chance to meet some of our outstanding Oredigger Athletes.
Some of the neighborhoods where you can expect to have an Oredigger knock on your door are:
- The West Elementary neighborhood.
- The Butte Family YMCA- Stodden Park Area
- The East Middle School area
- The Whittier Elementary neighborhood
- The Hillcrest Elementary neighborhood
- The Butte Country Club neighborhood
Another way to help is by joining us on Friday night October 27th at 6pm as the Oredigger Basketball team will be playing their first game of the 2023-24 campaign against Portland Bible College. There will be no admission to that game, but we strongly encourage people to drop off non-perishable food items for the Food Bank.
Hopefully, we see you Friday night, and hopefully, you see the Orediggers on your porch Sunday.
Happy Halloween from Montana Tech Athletics.
