CORVALLIS, Ore. — Montana State University-Northern’s Isaac Bartel was named the 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference WVT Laboratory Men’s Wrestler of the Year, the conference announced Thursday.
The senior 197-pound wrestler became the first-ever five-time All-American in Light history after finishing as the NAIA National Runner-Up this year. Bartel finishes his career at MSUN with the most wins in program history with a 168-18 all-time record. He also ranks sixth all-time with 51 career pins.
This year, Bartel was the top-ranked 197-pound grappler all year and finished the year with a 40-3 record. Of his 40 wins, 33 came via bonus points as he had 22 pins, seven technical falls and four major decisions.
In his career, Bartel never placed lower than third place at nationals, grabbing third as a freshman, second as a sophomore and junior, before winning the National Championship in 2021.
