OGDEN, Utah — Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton announced Wednesday that Northern Colorado football player Courtney Hall has been issued a one-game suspension for an illegal hit.
The incident occurred on Saturday, Nov. 10, in Northern Colorado’s 42-34 victory over Weber State in Ogden, Utah. Hall’s hit happened with 17 seconds remaining in the game. He was penalized for the hit, triggering an automatic review by the conference of the play as required by Rule 9-1-3.
The hit violated Rule 9-6, Article 3 which states, “No player shall target an initiate contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet.”
Hall, a sophomore defensive back from Pompano Beach, Fla., will be suspended for Northern Colorado’s season finale on Saturday, Nov. 17, against North Dakota.
Northern Colorado’s coaching staff was notified of the suspension on Tuesday.
