EDMONTON, Alberta — Butte golfer Kaven Noctor opened the Junior America’s Cup with an 85 Tuesday at the Blackhawk Golf Club.
The round was the first of the three-day tournament for the Montana state junior champ and soon-to-be Butte High senior. (Results)
Mateo Fuenmayer of Beaverton, Oregon, and Ian Siebers of Bellevue, Washington, opened with a 6-under-par 65 to take the lead. Caden Fioroni of La Jolla, California, is one shot back at 66.
San Diego leads the way with an 8-under 205 after the first day. Southern California is second at 207, followed by Oregon at 208.
Montana is tied with Idaho for 16th place in the 18-team tournament with a 226.
Justus Verge led Montana with a 73. Fellow Bozeman golfer J.R. Small hit 74, while Blake Finn of Big Timber carded a 79.
The tournament was played at Fairmont Hot Springs last July.
