No. 8 Carroll Downs Orediggers 55-44

BUTTE, Mont. – The No. 8 Carroll College Fighting Saints won the first three quarter and that was enough to defeat Montana Tech 55-44 in the home finale.

The Orediggers (12-14, 3-10) won the final frame but the deficit was too large. The Saints led 27-17 at the half. The Orediggers trailed 49-30 at the end of the third before closing the gap to 11.

Tech shot 54.5% during the fourth quarter and finished with 44% for the game. But the Orediggers didn’t make a three-pointer and only put up five long balls in the game.

Rebounding was nearly even with the Saints picking up just two more 27-25. The Saints had 9 offensive boards and the Orediggers had 3.

Aubrie Rademacher was the only Oredigger in double figures with 10 points. Rademacher shot 5 for 9 and finished with 4 rebounds.

Macy Mayer had 9 points coming off the bench. The Tech bench scored 21 points in the game.

Avery Carlson had 6 points and 6 rebounds.

Jamie Pickens led the Saints with 20 points and 12 rebounds to complete the double-double.

Maddie Geritz had 9 points and 8 rebounds. Addi Eckstrom finished with 8 points.

The Orediggers wrap up the regular season next week. Tech travels Montana Western Thursday before finishing up in Great Falls at the University of Providence.
