No. 3 Griffins top Tech women

SALT LAKE CITY — Nicole Yazzie scored 18 points to lead three Westminster College players in double figures Saturday night as the Griffins topped Montana Tech 61-42 in a Frontier Conference women’s basketball game.

Cydney Tibbitts added 13 points for the No. 3 Griffins (25-3, 14-1). Allie Eastman scored 10.

Dannii Devenny scored 14 to lead the Orediggers (16-12, 9-7) in the regular-season finale. Mandy Machinal scored 13, while Laini Kalumbi tossed in nine. Also, Lisa Laslovich and Shaey Murphy both tossed in three in the loss.

The game was basically meaningless for the Orediggers, who already secured the No. 3 seed in the conference playoffs. Tech opens the playoffs at home Tuesday night.
