The match between the No. 13 Montana Tech Orediggers and No. 2 University of Jamestown Jimmies went to five sets but the Diggers came up short at the Electric City Invite.
After a close first set, the Orediggers took the second two sets. Tech held a late lead in the fourth set before the Jimmies scored the final four points to push the contest into a fifth set. The Oredigger dropped the final frame with the Jimmies winning 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-27, 11-15.
Jamestown led in kills 55-46 but committed 34 attack errors compared to 24 by Tech. The Orediggers finished with a .118 hitting percentage and the Jimmies with .101.
Maureen Jessop led the Orediggers with 19 kills and finished with a .104 hitting percentage. Jessop had three aces and three blocks.
Taylor Henley had 11 kills and a .242 hitting percentage. Henley led the team with five solo blocks and one block assist.
Olivia Muir had nine kills and finished with a .207 hitting percentage.
Jalena Jablanov had 20 digs.
Aleah Zieske led the Jimmies with 15 kills and a .200 hitting percentage.
Ellie Holen had 36 digs for Jamestown.
The Orediggers (3-2) face Arizona Christian University today at 9 a.m.
