A standout career on the Notre Dame lacrosse team apparently wasn’t enough for Nick Ossello.
The Wheat Ridge, Colorado, native with strong ties to the Mining City is on the Notre Dame football roster for the 2015 season. Ossello, the son of Butte native Steve Ossello, is listed as a graduate student and a safety for the Fighting Irish.
He will wear No. 32, and he has one year of eligibility remaining.
Nick Ossello was a two-way midfielder who helped lead the Notre Dame lacrosse team to multiple trips to the Final Four.
Ossello was recruited out of high school by the Air Force Academy, which wanted him to play football. He is the grandson of Butte’s Guy and Madeline Ossello.
His sister Gianna plays lacrosse at Duke University. 2 comments

August 8, 2015, 7:47 amWhen Nick became a Notre Dame Lacrosse player, I begrudgingly swallowed my pride and became a Notre Dame lacrosse fan, yes I even have a tee shirt that I wear all the time. But Notre Dame football??? That will truly be a challenge I am not sure I am up to after 68 years of being a hater.
