Nelson’s 14 helps Eagles earn split

Butte High graduate Lexie Nelson poured in 14 points Saturday as the Eastern Washington women’s basketball team salvaged a weekend split.

Nelson sank three 3-pointers as the Eagles beat North Dakota 67-58 Saturday in Grand Forks. Nelson scored eight as Eastern Washingon fell 67-66 Thursday to Northern Colorado in Greeley.

The Eagles wrap up the regular season this week at home. Eastern Washington plays host to Idaho State on Thursday and Weber State on Saturday. The Big Sky Conference tournament begins March 14.

Nelson, a 2010 Butte High graduate who transferred from the University of Montana, averages a team-leading 13.9 points per game.
