NAU’s Rogers, MSU’s Moon share honor

OGDEN, Utah — The Big Sky Conference has selected its men’s basketball Players of the Week for games played Jan. 14-19. Montana State guard Christian Moon and Northern Arizona guard Gabe Rogers have been selected as Co-Players of the Week.

Moon, a 6-foot-2 senior from Inkster, Mich, averaged 17.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game as the Bobcats won three conference games to move into sole possession of third place. Moon shot .640 percent from the field, .538 from 3-point range and made 13-of-17 free throws.

Moon opened with 24 points, five rebounds, two steals an assist and a block in a 76-68 home win on Monday, Jan. 14 over Southern Utah. Moon netted 16 points and went 8-for-8 from the free-throw line as Montana State handed Weber State its first league loss with a 76-74 win on Thursday. Moon closed with 12 points, five rebounds and three assists in a 61-59 overtime win over Idaho State on Saturday.

Rogers, a 6-2 senior from Houston, Texas, averaged 31.5 points per game and shot .571 percent from the field as Northern Arizona beat Northern Colorado and lost by two points to North Dakota.

Rogers scored 28 points with two assists, a steal and a rebound in a 67-65 win over Northern Colorado on Thursday. Rogers was 11-of-19 from the field, 4-of-9 from 3-point range and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Rogers exploded for a career-high 35 points an an 81-79 loss to North Dakota on Saturday. Rogers made 13-of-23 from the field, 4-of-8 from 3-point range and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. He also became the 14th player in league history to make 200 career 3-pointers. The 35 points were the most scored by a Big Sky player this season and tied him for 10th all-time in NAU single-game history.

Mikh McKinney, G, Sacramento Sate: Averaged 19.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in two wins.

Davion Berry, G, Weber State: Averaged 20.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in two losses.
