DILLON — A seven-run first inning wasn’t enough for the Butte Muckers Thursday night.

The host Dillon Cubs fought back from the early deficit to hand the Muckers an 11-8 defeat on the first day of the Maybelle Arthur Tournament.

Jamey Richardson tripled, doubled and drove in three runs to lead the Cubs, who saw three players with a multi-hit game. R.J. Fitzgerald doubled and singled, and Colby Minert hit two singles.

Jace Fitzgerald pitched five and a third innings in relief to get the win.

Bryson Henningsen doubled to lead the Mucks. His two-bagger drove in two runs to highlight Butte’s seven-run first. Cameron Johnson added an RBI single as the Muckers sent 12 batters to the plate in the opening frame.

Ryan Schultz, Liam Sommer, Quinn Sullivan, Kobe Moreno and Gabe Lacey added singles for Butte.

The Muckers will take on the Bitterroot Red Sox at 10 a.m. Friday. On Saturday, Butte will play Mission Valley at 10 a.m. before wrapping up pool play against the Missoula Pioneers at 3 p.m.
