BELGRADE — The Butte Muckers opened the season with a win and a loss Saturday.
Butte knocked off Belgrade’s B team 11-6 in the opener of the non-conference doubleheader. The Bandits battled back to take the second game 12-2 in five innings
The Muckers will play their home opener Sunday, taking on the Bitterroot Red Sox B team at 1 p.m. on Miners Field at 3 Legends Park.

The bottom of the order came up big for the Muckers in the opener.
Kevin Donaldson and Anthony Knott, Butte’s No. 8 and No. 9 hitters, each drove in three runs to lead Butte’s 10-hit attack. Donaldson doubled in a 3-for-4 effort, while Knott went 2 for 2 with a double and two walks.
Ethan Cunningham ripped a pair of singles for Butte, which got singles from Kadyn Lester, Zach Tierney and Hunter Hotalen.
Jakob Nielsen drew three walks, and Lester joined Knott with two as all nine Butte batters reached base at least once. Rye Doherty and Max Demarais both walked and scored.
Doherty and Donaldson pitched the Muckers to victory.
Aidan Kulbeck hit a triple and double while driving in three to lead Belgrade.

Brody Jacksha drove in three runs, and Evan Hamberger knocked in two as the Bandits battled back for the split.
The game was called after five because of the 10-run rule.
Diego Casas tripled, Drew Dunning doubled, and Caleb Hoppe struck out six batters in four and a third innings in the victory.
The Miners were held to just two hits in the second game. Doherty doubled and drove in a run, while Knott singled. Tierney and Hunter Hotalen drew walks in the loss.
