Muckers split in Great Falls

GREAT FALLS — The Butte Muckers split an American Legion doubleheader with the Great Falls Outlaws Sunday.

The Outlaws edged Butte 5-4 in the opener before the Muckers stormed to salvage the spit with a 15-3 victory.

The 14-5 Muckers are back at home Saturday to take on the Belgrade B team.

Game 1
Outlaws 5, Muckers 4
Great Falls rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out the Game 1 win.

Trigg Mapes doubled and drove in two runs to lead Great Falls. He also pitched into the sixth inning, striking out 11 Muckers.

Max Demarais doubled and singled to lead Butte’s offense. Anthony Knott, Rye Doherty, Brady Shannon and Trey Hansen hit singles.

Game 2
Muckers 15, Outlaws 3
Demarais, Zach Tierney and Kadyn Lester led the way as the Muckers unleashed the furry in Game 2.

Both smacked three singles as Butte pounded 14 hits. Jakob Nielsen and Doherty doubled, while Knott, Donaldson and Shannon singled.

Doherty joined Tierney and Demarais with two RBIs. Hunter Hotalen drew a pair of walks.

Ethan Cunningham pitched into the sixth, striking out eight for the win. Doherty got the last five outs.
