The Butte Muckers rolled their record to 12-3 Tuesday with a pair of wins over the Missoula Maverick’s B team on Miners Field at 3 Legends Stadium.
Butte won the opener 10-1 before completing the sweep with a 17-3 victory. The nightcap was called after five innings by the 10-run rule.
The games were makeups for a rainout.
Next up for the Muckers is a Saturday road trip to take on the Bitterroot Bucs B team.
The Butte Miners will end a 10-game break Wednesday when they take on the Dillon Cubs in a Southern A doubleheader at 6 p.m. on Miners Field.
Muckers 10, Mavericks B 1 (Boxscore)
Ethan Cunningham pitched the distance for the local nine. He scattered four hits and struck out five batters over seven innings.
Mike McGivern hit a triple and a single, and Hunter Hotalen singled and doubled to lead the Butte offense. Eyston Lakala went 2 for 3 and joined Jacob Nielsen with two RBIs.
Anthony Knott, Kevin Donaldson, Kadyn Lester and Nielsen all singled in the win.
Full names for the Missoula player were not provided.
Muckers 17, Mavericks B 3 (Boxscore)
The Muckers broke open a 2-all game with 10 runs in the third inning. Butte brought in the mercy rule with five more in the fourth.
Rye Doherty, Trey Hansen and Zach Tierney hit home runs to lead Butte’s 13-hit attack. Cunningham, Donaldson and Sean Ossello doubled.
Cunningham, Tierney, Donaldson, Ossello and Hansen had a two-hit game. Hansen drove in three runs. Nielson added a single.
Lester pitched four strong innings to get the win. Donaldson finished it out.
