THREE FORKS — The Butte Muckers picked up a pair of lopsided wins Saturday, sweeping a twin bill with the Gallatin Valley Outlaws B team.
The Muckers won the opener 14-2 before completing the sweep with a 17-3 win. Now 9-2, the Muckers will host a Father’s Day doubleheader at 1 p.m. Sunday against the Great Falls B team at 3 Legends Stadium.
Muckers 14, Outlaws B 2 (Boxscore)
Mike McGivern and Brady Shannon doubled for Butte, which put the game away with 10 runs in the top of the fifth inning.
McGivern drove in three runs, and Zach Tierney and Max Demarais each knocked in two. Demarais smacked two singles, while Kevin Donaldson, Hunter Hotalen and Anthony Knott hit one. Knott scored three times. Donaldson, Hotalen, Shannon and McGivern each plated twice.
Tierney, Butte’s cleanup hitter, walked three times.
Rye Doherty pitched into the fifth inning, fanning six for the win.
Full names for the Outlaws were not provided.
Muckers 17, Outlaws B 3 (Boxscore)
Knott provided the spark from the leadoff spot to lift the Muckers. He went 4 for 6 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored.
The Muckers took command with 11 runs in the top of the first inning.
Jakob Nielsen hit a single and a pair of doubles, while Doherty smacked a single and a double.
Nielsen drove in three suns. Doherty and Tierney each knocked in two. Tierney, Shannon, Kadyn Lester and Trey Hansen all singled in Butte’s 13-hit attack.
McGivern pitched four innings for the win. Ethan Cunningham went three in relief.
