Muckers, Posse play late in doubleheader split

The Butte Muckers and Gallatin Valley Posse nearly burned the midnight oil in a Tuesday night split on Miners Field at 3 Legends Stadium.

Butte won the opener 9-2 before the Posse battled back to win the nightcap 15-1. Game 2 ended after 11 p.m.

The Muckers have a week off before playing a nine-inning game next Tuesday night at home against the Missoula Mavericks B.

The Muckers took advantage of seven free passes and six Posse errors to take the opener.

Tocher Lee and Zach O’Connell each hit a pair of singles to lead Butte’s seven-hit attack. Lucas Harris-Huerta doubled, and Derek Dunmire walked three times and scored three runs.

Will Stepan and Matt Donaldson also singled in the win. Anthony Knott pitched th distance for the win. He struck out four, walked five, gave up six hits and one earned run.

Lucas Petersen-Stark and Blake Fitch doubled to lead the Posse. Britton Bentle hit two singles.

Mucker errors were the story in the nightcap.

Gallatin Valley took advantage of seven Butte errors. The Posse also walked six times.

M Diefenderfer and C Christianson each smacked three hits to lead the Possee 13-hit attack. Christianson drove in four runs. G Olden poked two hits.

B Toner and A Defrance combined to hold Butte to just two hits — both singles. Each Gallatin Valley pitcher fanned five batters.

George Riojas and Colby Gordon singled for Butte.
