MSU’s Singleton named to CFPA watch list

BOZEMAN — Montana State linebacker Alex Singleton was named to the College Football Performance Award’s preseason watch list as one of the top players in the nation at his position, the CFPA announced Friday.

Singleton was an Honorable Mention All-Big Sky linebacker in 2013, although his statistics exceeded most of the players in the league honored ahead of him by the conference’s coaches at that position. He was third in the Big Sky in tackles-for-loss (16.5 total, 1.38 per game), first among linebackers, and was 12th in tackles-per-game at 9.2 and was tied for fifth with two fumbles forced and tied for fourth with three interceptions.

The senior from Thousand Oaks, Calif., returns as a third-year starter for the Bobcats in 2014.
